Description

About the Creator

Republic of Ireland international footballer. Played in the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the USA. Was sent home before even playing a match in the 2002 World Cup in South Korea & Japan. Is the captain of Manchester United. Missed the final of the Champions League in 1999 due to yellow cards. Man Utd won the final 2-1 against FC Bayern. Retired from international football citing medical reasons. Formely played for Cobh Ramblers and Nottingham Forest. Made his debut for the Republic of Ireland on 22nd May 1991 against Chile. Came out of international retirement in 2004. As a youngster Roy wrote to English clubs for a trial, but didn't write to United. He didn't think he was good enough. Has a pet Labrador called Triggs. Has captained United to 9 major honors making him Manchester United's most successful skipper. Has played in a record five FA Cup finals in the 1990's One for Forest and four for United. He reportedly earns a whopping £92,000 a week. He used to be an amateur boxer in his early days. He was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Law from Cork University. His hero was Glen Hoddle. In February 2005, the comedy musical "I, Keano" opened in the Olympia Theatre Dublin. After 12 years at Manchester United he decided to call time on his career there on 18th November 2005, leaving by mutual consent. After leaving Manchester United Roy fulfilled his child-hood dream by signing for Scottish team Celtic on December 15th 2005.
